Ottawa County VINE Arrest Coverage
The sheriff's Corrections page links VINELink and points visitors there for release notification. Michigan's MI-VINE program describes the service as free, confidential, and open around the clock. That is an official Ottawa County route into VINE.
Nothing in the public materials promises a county-specific technical feed. Nor does it guarantee that every booking appears. And no photo is guaranteed with the record. Pick Michigan, then locate Ottawa County inside the interface. Enter the identity fields shown, and read the result as a participating VINE record. A missing record can reflect timing or spelling. It can also reflect custody held elsewhere, or the limits of the system's scope.
Check an Ottawa Arrest on VINE
Start at the official VINELink homepage. Deep links to the state or registration screens tend to break. Bring the person's correct legal name plus any identifier you have, and never choose a record just because the name looks close.
- Open VINELink and choose Michigan.
- Select or search for Ottawa County within the participating agency choices.
- Enter the name or identifier fields offered by the current interface.
- Compare multiple matches through the displayed agency, custody, or identifier details.
- Open the record and note its status, source, and update information before registering for notices.
A VINE result describes custody or a supported case event. It is not the full police report. It cannot replace the official court file. The Ottawa County arrest-record overview shows how the roster, a FOIA record, and the court record fit together.
Ottawa VINE Search Interface
The VINELink homepage offers a neutral starting point for choosing a state and county. No gallery of accused people appears there.

The Michigan MI-VINE page confirms the state program and its service terms. Follow the live prompts, since the controls can change, and never post private watch-list or registration details.

This state page sets VINE's service scope. Ottawa County's jail page confirms the local referral.
What Ottawa VINE Results Mean
The fields shown depend on the participating record. Michigan materials describe custody information, reliable criminal-case data, and notices for supported events. Promise nothing the live result does not display.
| Possible item | How to read it |
|---|---|
| Name or identifier | A matching aid, not fingerprint confirmation |
| Custody status | The status reported by the participating system |
| Facility or agency | The reporting custody location or source |
| Release | A supported custody event, not a court dismissal |
| Transfer | A move in custody that may require a new source check |
| Escape | A notification category identified by Michigan materials |
| Court or case event | Available only when supported; verify with the court |
A VINE alert says nothing about why release happened. Bond, sentence credit, a transfer, or another lawful decision can all end custody. A transfer does not mean freedom. For the final legal outcome, use MiCOURT as an informational index and ask the clerk for the official case record.
Register Ottawa County Custody Alerts
The MI-VINE brochure lists phone, text, mobile app, email, and TTY registration. Choices vary with the record and the interface. Pick only the events that matter. Keep account details to yourself.
- Open the matching VINE record and choose the notification or registration option.
- Select the supported event types, such as release, transfer, or escape.
- Provide the phone number, text number, or email requested by the interface.
- For calls, create the four-digit PIN described by Michigan’s brochure.
- Save confirmation information and update contact details if they change.
Phone registration runs through 1-800-770-7657. TTY service uses 1-866-847-1298. Calls may continue until the PIN is entered, or run for up to 24 hours, so pick a PIN the right users can remember and others cannot guess. Skip a shared number if an alert could endanger someone.
VINE operators answer around the clock. They support the notification service, not jail records, court clerks, or emergency dispatch. For immediate danger, call 911.
Roster Versus VINE Arrest Status
Ottawa County's roster and VINE overlap, but they are not the same tool. The roster lists only current county jail inmates. VINE searches participating custody data and sends notices, so timing and scope can split the results.
| Channel | Best use | Main limit |
|---|---|---|
| OCSO Inmate Lookup | Check current county-jail custody | No released-person archive |
| MI-VINE | Track a supported record and register for events | No guarantee every local record appears at once |
| OCSO Records/FOIA | Request an arrest, booking, or releasable photo record | Not an instant custody alert |
| MiCOURT | Find public court information | Not the official certified file or custody roster |
No fresh booking showing up? Try the Ottawa County same-day fallback, and call the jail when present location matters. Person already out of county custody? Request the historical record or follow the case in court rather than assuming VINE keeps a public arrest history.
Ottawa VINE Has No Photo Promise
Neither the county's VINE referral promises a booking photograph for every Ottawa County record. Michigan's program material makes no such promise either. VINE's job is custody and event notice. The OCSO roster instructions make no universal photo promise either.
Want a booking image? Ask the record-holding agency whether one exists and can be released under Michigan FOIA. Investigation, privacy, juvenile, court-order, and other exemptions can shape the response. Never treat an unofficial image as identification. The county roster warns that only fingerprints confirm true identity.
Federal and State VINE Limits
VINE has clear borders. Michigan's own brochure says it does not track federal inmates. For a federal custody question in Ottawa County, use the Bureau of Prisons locator. You can also try the agency holding the person. County jails and federal detention operate separately. An Ottawa County arrest that never appears in local sources can still mean someone is in federal custody. State custody runs on its own track as well. Michigan gives state-prison victim notification to the MDOC Crime Victims Services Unit at 1-877-886-5401. MDOC OTIS lists state prisoners, parolees, and probationers. It covers those groups within its stated scope. None of that is a feed of new Ottawa County bookings. Keep jail, state corrections, and federal searches apart.
Community alert tools are different again. Grand Haven's Nixle resources, Hudsonville's Silent Observer paths, county social accounts, and the incident map spread public information. Some of them also take tips. They are not VINE records and never promise a personal release notification.
Verify Every Ottawa Arrest Match
Match a name carefully before trusting it. Two people can share a name, spellings get entered differently, and some arrest records stay incomplete. Compare the source shown on screen with any identifiers listed, then confirm a material fact directly with the reporting agency. Note the time of each VINE and roster check. Custody status can shift within hours.
A VINE alert reports a supported status event and nothing more. It will not tell you the court outcome. When a notice arrives, read the exact event and its source before acting. A transfer notice is not a release. A release notice does not explain the court result. For urgent safety questions, confirm through the proper official channel, and keep your registration details private.
